ST. PAUL, MN (April 14, 2014) – Affinity Plus is excited to share that its members donated a total of $69,203.83 in cash and Participation Rewards points to its five organizational Charities of Choice in 2013. The Charities of Choice include the Affinity Plus Foundation, the American Red Cross – Northern Minnesota Region, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, Second Harvest Heartland, and Special Olympics Minnesota.
“This isn’t the first time I’ve said this about our members, and it certainly won’t be the last: the generosity of our members is amazing,” states Dave Larson, president and CEO. “If we’re supporting disaster relief efforts, they give their cash or points; if we’re collecting items for a food drive, they bring in donations; if we’re hosting a blood drive, they sign up. Every day, our members are demonstrating the ‘people helping people’ spirit of the cooperative by helping those in need in our communities.”
The Participation Rewards Program awards members for their activity in the credit union with points they can use for their own financial gain, or redeem as a donation to one of the organization’s Charities of Choice. In order to donate $1 to charity, members need to redeem 100 points. The cash value of points members donated in 2013 is $43,808.34.
