Grand Reopening Set for Feb. 12
RIVERSIDE, CA (February 9, 2015) -- Riverside-based Altura Credit Union reopened its branch at 1616 University Ave., Riverside, on Feb. 4, returning it to full operation. A Grand Opening Party, which is open to the public, is set for Thursday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the official ribbon cutting set for noon.
Radio station 99.1 KGGI will be on site providing music, Petals the Clown will entertain the kids with face painting and animal balloons, and food will be served. Plus $100 Visa gift cards will be given away every hour.
In addition, one lucky member will be going home with a brand new Audi A4. The 12 finalists in the drawing each won a $500 monthly drawing in 2014 during Altura’s “Better Ways to Win” debit card awareness campaign making them eligible for the big prize.
The University Avenue branch had served as an ATM-only Altura location since May 2011 when its operations were scaled back in response to the recession. This is the second Altura branch to return to full operations. In April 2012, Altura restaffed its Murrieta branch, which also had reduced operations in May 2011.
“We are very excited to return our University Avenue Branch to full operations for our Members and University of California Riverside students,” said Mark Hawkins, Altura Credit Union CEO. “This move points to the continued rebound of the local Inland Empire economy. During the worst of the recession, Altura had to reduce expenses and focus on delivering core services to members,” he added. “However, we maintained our ATMs to show our local commitment, and in hopes of returning to full service, which we are pleased to do now,” said Hawkins.
