The Board of Directors of the Louisiana Credit Union League (LCUL), the state-trade association for credit unions, has selected Robert (Bob) Gallman as president and CEO, effective March 1. Gallman joins LCUL following the departure of Anne Cochran, who announced her intent to retire last July after serving more than forty years in the movement.
"Bob knows the credit union business inside and out. Working together, we look forward to strengthening and expanding our footprint throughout Louisiana," said LCUL Board Chairman Glen Beard. "His comprehensive knowledge of the day-to-day operations of our members, alongside his experience implementing strategic initiatives and developing business relationships, make him distinctly qualified to lead the organization."
For more than 20 years, Gallman has worked with the Cornerstone Credit Union League in Dallas, where he held multiple leadership roles, including the positions of executive vice president, chief operations officer and chief business services officer. Previously, he served as the vice president and senior marketing officer at CUNA Mutual Insurance Company. A Mississippi native, Gallman holds a Bachelor's degree from Delta State University.
Cochran's nearly 25-year tenure as LCUL's president and CEO is highlighted by a number of legislative victories benefitting credit unions as well as her instrumental role in developing products, services and programs for credit unions in Louisiana, such as the Louisiana Credit Union Foundation that provides financial assistance for statewide disaster relief efforts for credit union employees as well as professional development opportunities for small credit unions.
"While the transition into retirement is bittersweet, I know that I am leaving the League in the best hands possible," said Cochran. "Bob's track record of effective and strategic leadership will guide the League through this transition and continue to grow our exceptional organization."
