UW Credit Union has announced plans to build a second full-service branch in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. The credit union has acquired the building site located adjacent to 2875 Fish Hatchery Road. Pending municipal approvals and construction, the credit union expects to open the new location in the summer of 2019. The credit union first opened a Fitchburg location nearly a decade ago near the Target store at 6331 McKee Road, and that location is now among the credit union’s busiest locations. The new location will offer additional convenient space to provide financial services to our growing membership, bringing the credit union’s branch network to 26 Wisconsin locations.
“This additional branch location will make services more convenient for residents of Fitchburg and the surrounding area,” says President and CEO, Paul Kundert. “We’re committed to providing busy consumers with the latest mobile technology and easy, convenient access to in-person service when they need it.”
UW Credit Union is among the top credit unions in the nation, providing full-service financial solutions to consumers. The credit union is currently providing checking account services to more than 190,000 members. Fewer than 40 of the nation’s nearly 6,000 credit unions have reached this scale of member connection. “While our members are increasingly reaching for their smartphones rather than their car keys, there are times when nothing can substitute for talking face-to-face with a knowledgeable financial services professional. Our branches provide the setting for some very important conversations,” says Kundert.
Seeking to provide expanded access to student loan refinance solutions, the credit union expanded its membership eligibility in 2016 to include any Wisconsin resident who is enrolled or has previously attended any accredited institution of higher education nationwide. To date, the credit union has refinanced more than $70 million in student loans for Wisconsin residents. “We’re committed to providing solutions that save Wisconsin consumers money. This new location will help us to continue moving forward in that mission,” says Kundert.
