Since the Marine Credit Union (MCU) Foundation was formed in 2014, almost $512,000 has been given to over 700 worthy causes in the communities served by Marine. Marine employees contributed more than $278,000 to the Foundation during that time.
“At Marine Credit Union, we have a strong commitment to serving the underserved and making our communities better places to live by providing opportunities when others won’t,” said Liz Popp, Executive Director of the MCU Foundation. “This commitment is replicated in the mission of the MCU Foundation.”
In February, Marine hired Majel Hein as a Financial Literacy Counselor in La Crosse to help advance the mission of the MCU Foundation. Hein joins the Foundation from Great Rivers United Way, where she worked as the Director of Development. She also served as the Program Director and the Credit/Housing/Student Loan Counselor and Educator for Consumer Credit Counseling Services in La Crosse. In addition to experience across various areas like program development and management, one-on-one counseling, personal financial analysis, and more, she also holds a degree in Finance from Western Technical College, various certifications from the National Foundation of Credit Counseling and a Non-Profit Leadership certificate from Viterbo University in La Crosse.
“Our goal is to supply underserved individuals in our community with the tools, education and guidance they need to reach their financial goals,” said Popp.
