Clark named to CUNA Consumer Protection Subcommittee

Joe Clark, Chief Legal Officer of Truliant Federal Credit Union, has been named to the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) Consumer Protection Subcommittee.

CUNA represents U.S. state and federally chartered credit unions. The Consumer Protection Subcommittee reports to CUNA’s Advocacy Committee, making recommendations reflecting concerns about consumer protection laws and regulations. Clark will serve a one-year appointment.

“I’m honored to serve in this capacity, to help ensure that the current consumer-related statutes and laws are equitable and in our members’ best interest,” Clark said. “I am committed to the pursuit of continuing credit unions on the path of success and of improving our members’ lives.”

Clark has more than two decades of management and leadership experience in the credit union industry.

As Chief Legal Officer for Truliant, he is responsible for legal affairs — assuring legal, regulatory and compliance obligations are met. Clark joined Truliant as its Compliance Officer in 1994 and was promoted to General Counsel in 2001. He was named Chief Legal Officer in 2013.

Clark graduated cum laude from North Carolina Central University school of law and received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration with an accounting concentration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
