Hanscom Federal Credit Union awards scholarships to students

Hanscom Federal Credit Union awarded seven high school students with scholarships at its recent Annual Meeting on May 5, 2018. Five credit union members and two students from local US Air Force Junior ROTC units each received $1,500 to assist with college expenses.

The John F. Condon Scholarship is named after a former Hanscom FCU board member who made a significant contribution to the credit union’s success during his 26 years of volunteerism. The award is based on academic record, extracurricular activities, and an essay.

The year’s member recipients are Olivia Cigna of Wilmington, MA; Nathan Coram of Dracut, MA;  Tyler Kitts of Silver Spring, MD; Rebecca Li of Devens, MA; and Jessica Zheng of Saratoga, CA.

The top graduates of the Lowell High School and Bedford High School Air Force JROTC programs, Cadet Colonel Tara Thorn Hong of Lowell and Cadet Lt. Colonel Daniel Smith of Billerica, each received scholarships.

“These kids are the future of our nation,” said Hanscom FCU’s Chairman of the Board Paul Marotta. “I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
