Argent Credit Union awards $5,000 in scholarships

Argent Credit Union is excited to announce the winners of its Ruby A. Robinson annual scholarship program. The two recipients this year are Kiarra Dunn and Jordan Morris. These deserving young credit union members were awarded $2,500 for their academic, leadership and community involvement achievement.

Kiarra Dunn currently attends Thomas Dale High School. As a student in Advance Studies, she has been immersed in an environment of motivating academics across the primary curriculum during her entire high school experience. She has worked hard over the last four years improving upon her time management skills. Kiarra has taken a competitive course load all the while maintaining a top performing Grade Point Average (GPA).

In addition to Kiarra’s performance in the classroom, she also works part-time at a local Chick-fil-A and is an active member of the German Club, Feminist Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Outside of academic efforts and part-time work, Kiarra’s community service and volunteer activities embrace the Christian Life Kids Worship Team where she has excelled, honing in on her leadership and communication skills.
This Fall Kiarra plans to attend George Mason University where her field of study will be Creative Writing to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.

Jordan Morris attends Matoaca High School where she is in Advanced College Preparatory Studies, taking Honors and AP courses, excelling academically, currently ranking 6th in her class. Jordan also participates on the Varsity Volleyball and Softball Teams, and is very active in the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America; ranking official of the Key Club and is a Sprit Mentor at the high school for Freshman.

Jordan’s commitment to serving others in the community cannot be unnoticed demonstrated by her extracurricular activities. She has volunteered at the Local Food Bank, Volleyball Special Olympics; assisted with Voter Registration, SPCA fundraisers and Tutoring peers academically.

While engaging in community service initiatives, Jordan, has also been employed as a Community Pool Life Guard, Sales Associate at the Hallmark Store, Referee with the Richmond Volleyball Club and Gym Supervisor with Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation.

Jordan will attend Virginia Tech in the fall where her field of study will be General Engineering.

The Credit Union’s scholarships have been designed to commemorate 30 years Ruby A. Robinson dedicated to the Credit Union as one of the first employees. Argent Credit Union has awarded a total of $149,000 in scholarships since the program’s inception in 1993.
