Ohio Healthcare Federal Credit Union has received the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award for the second year in a row, as a result of its We Care Loan program. So far, this program has raised more than $23,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since its inception in 2016.
Every loan opened at the credit union initiates a corporate donation to local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The receiving hospital is determined by the loan recipient’s home address. Forty CMN Hospitals have received funds through this program so far.
“We have a motto at our credit union. It’s ‘We Care Because You Care’,” says Bill Butler, President of Ohio HealthCare FCU. “As a credit union that serves the healthcare industry, our existence is based on caring. We care for our members. Our members care for the sick and injured. Our ‘We Care Loan’ initiative allows us to ALL care for and support our community.”
The prestigious Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award was named after early credit union pioneer Dora Maxwell. She was one of the original delegates who established the Credit Union National Association and worked diligently in developing volunteer clubs and organizations for the less fortunate.
Jaime Crooks, VP of Marketing for Ohio HealthCare FCU, accepted the award at the Ohio Credit Union League’s inVest48 conference on behalf of the credit union.
“We are truly honored to be recognized for our We Care Loan initiative with this award,” said Crooks. “This program is one we are extremely proud of and was developed from the heart of our credit union. Every loan we open supports our members’ communities and makes miracles for sick children.”
Ohio HealthCare Federal Credit Union also received the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award in 2003 for its financial education efforts in the Latino community.
