First Financial Federal Credit Union has again partnered with Carroll County Public Schools to sponsor the Math 24 Tournament Challenge. The challenge included fifteen elementary schools. Each school sent a team of four mathletes in grades 3-5, to compete at Friendship Valley Elementary School on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 6:00 p.m.
The challenge required each team to make 24 from the four numbers on the game card provided, using addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. Each number was available to be used only once. As the competition continued, more cards were introduced. Participants received certificates and the top four finalists were awarded medals.
First Financial supplied t-shirts to each participant as well as refreshments for all volunteers, participants, and family members. “With the success of last year’s program, we were excited to sponsor the event again this year. Math 24 is the perfect way to get kids excited about learning,” said Eric Church, President/CEO of First Financial.
