Point Breeze Credit Union has awarded scholarships to 15 local high school seniors as a part of its 12th annual scholarship program. Each student will receive $1,500 towards his or her higher education.
Students submitted applications explaining their involvement in high school and their community, as well as an essay describing their future goals and how their selected major will help them achieve these goals. They were also asked to create a hypothetical budget on a $40,000 annual salary.
“Financial health and education are of utmost importance for our young members and we are proud to support these students as they plan ahead for their futures. Today, many college students feel stressed about personal finances and through early education about budgeting, they are better able to set and stick to financial goals,” said Lynn Finckel, Secretary of Point Breeze Credit Union’s Board of Directors and Chair of the Scholarship Committee. “We were highly impressed with the applications received this year from students throughout our membership and are thrilled to award these 15 seniors with scholarships to their school of choice.”
