Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union honored as ‘Best Credit Union’ by newspaper readers

Readers of the Evansville Courier & Press voted Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union as “best credit union” in a poll that drew more than 80,000 votes.

It was the seventh consecutive year that ETFCU earned the top award, platinum, as “best credit union” as chosen by the newspaper’s readers.

Founded in 1936 by teachers from Evansville schools and what is now the University of Evansville, ETFCU has grown to more than 202,000 members with $1.5 billion in assets. Led by President and CEO Bill Schirmer, ETFCU now has 15 branches in southern Indiana, western Kentucky and central Tennessee.

ETFCU also was honored in two Best of the Best competitions in southwestern Indiana.

In Gibson County, the credit union was named Best of the Best in Banking in voting by readers of the Princeton Daily Clarion. More than 21,000 residents participated in the polling. ETFCU has 9,800 members and two new locations in Gibson County: one in Princeton and one in Fort Branch, Indiana.

In Knox County, the credit union was named Best of the Best in Banking in voting by readers of the Vincennes Sun-Commercial. Around 20,000 residents participated. ETFCU serves 10,300 members in Knox County through its branch in Vincennes.
