Point Breeze Credit Union is hosting “The Harvest” golf tournament to benefit the Maryland Food Bank on Oct. 22 at Hayfields Country Club.
Maryland communities are deeply impacted by food insecurity. According to the Maryland Food Bank, over 665,000 people in Maryland do not have enough to eat. The food bank aims to meet the immediate needs of Marylanders while simultaneously working to reduce hunger statewide.
“We are grateful to Point Breeze Credit Union for selecting the Maryland Food Bank as the beneficiary of this golf tournament,” said Carmen Del Guercio, President & CEO of the Maryland Food Bank. “One in nine Marylanders don’t always know where their next meal will come from, but events like this offer our organization a unique platform to talk about the issue of hunger while generating funds to support our work. We really appreciate this valuable gift that will ultimately help us provide even more nutrient-rich foods to people in need across the state.”
Hayfields is one of the region’s premiere championship golf courses, stretching more than 7,000 yards in picturesque Northern Baltimore County. The prestigious club has hosted six PGA Tour Champions events and challenged famed golfers, including Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Hale Irwin, Lee Trevino and Tom Kite.
Golfers may sign up for “The Harvest” individually, in a group of two or in a group of four. Registration is $225 per individual, $450 per twosome and $900 per foursome with all proceeds going to the Maryland Food Bank. Point Breeze is offering early bird pricing at $800 for groups of four that sign up before Oct. 1.

Golfers will have a chance to participate in competitions for closest to the pin, longest drive and a hole in one car contest. Following the tournament, there will be a dinner and awards presentation. There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 cash drawing to benefit the food bank. Day-of tournament registration will open at 11:30 a.m. and the tournament will begin at 12:30 p.m.
