New Horizons Credit Union presents Jensen’s Heart of Gold Foundation with $1000 check from fund raising efforts

New Horizons Credit Union presented a check for $1000.00 to Jensen’s Heart of Gold Foundation during the foundation’s annual Super Slugger Softball Childhood Cancer Awareness event representing fund raising efforts held during 2018.

Giving back to the community is important for New Horizons Credit Union. Since the beginning of 2018, New Horizons Credit Union employees have been raising funds for Jensen’s Heart of Gold primarily with special jeans days.  This non-profit organization was chosen based on the results of an annual internal staff survey.  Each year, New Horizons Credit Union employees select the Corporate Charities they want to see their Credit Union support.  For 2018, Jensen’s Heart of Gold was selected as one of the Corporate Charities.

Jensen’s Heart of Gold is a non-profit organization that provides, “Awareness, advocacy, and hope for childhood cancer cure,” as explained by Melissa Byrd, President & Founder. Their goal is to provide financial relief for expenses that medical insurance doesn’t cover, educate parents with the resources that are available, and support a memorial scholarship program for high school seniors setting their sights on a medical career.  One of their major events to raise awareness and funds is their Super Slugger Softball tournament held at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.  The event has grown into a two-day event with 50 teams!

“New Horizons Credit Union is a proud supporter of Jensen’s Heart of Gold Foundation and all the good work they do to help families dealing with childhood cancer,” said New Horizons Credit Union interim president/CEO, Edith Franklin.  Our staff chose this non-profit to dedicate their fund raising to for 2018, and we are happy to play a role in its success.
