PSECU hosts Back to Bloom Bash for Bloomsburg University Community

Tomorrow, September 19, Pennsylvania’s largest credit union, PSECU, will host a Back to Bloom Bash for the students, faculty, and staff of Bloomsburg University. In addition to welcoming the university community back to campus for the fall 2018 semester, PSECU will officially unveil its recently remodeled Bloomsburg University Financial Education Center (FEC), engage attendees with fun financial learning opportunities, and offer free food, games, and prizes. The Back to Bloom Bash will take place in the lobby of the Warren Student Services Center (SCC) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Following 16 years of operation, PSECU began the Bloomsburg University FEC renovation project in May of this year. Enhancements to the site include a new design that encourages a more user-friendly experience and incorporates innovative technologies to provide better service to visitors. The FEC’s branding and look will also be updated and modernized to align with PSECU’s current style. Thanks to the remodel, the FEC is also now larger, brighter, and more inviting.

“At PSECU, it’s our goal to always offer the highest quality products and services. This often means making upgrades to ensure that we offer the most up-to-date tools and technologies for our members and potential members,” said PSECU President Greg Smith. “Our Financial Education Centers are especially important because they give students educational opportunities that can set the foundation for their future financial well-being and success.”

One of 24 total PSECU FECs, the Bloomsburg University location provides financial services assistance to the institution’s community members, all of whom are eligible for membership in the credit union. Additionally, it provides internship opportunities for students looking to gain real-world experience in areas such as marketing and business operations, and serves as a place to hold financial education workshops for those interested in learning more about managing their finances. Since opening, PSECU has employed 47 paid student interns at the Bloomsburg University FEC.

“PSECU has been a wonderful partner to Bloomsburg University for many years and we appreciate their commitment to our students and our campus,” said Bloomsburg University President Bashar W. Hanna.

To further encourage the Bloomsburg University student audience to attend the Back to Bloom Bash, PSECU will “take over” the university’s Snapchat social media channel for a portion of the event day. Using video announcements, the credit union will promote participation in a Golden Ticket ATM challenge, a financial education-focused passport-stamping activity, familiarity with the PSECU FEC, and overall enjoyment of the event.

“The Back to Bloom Bash is a way for us to celebrate the start of a new academic year with Bloomsburg University and let the campus population know that we’re here to help them reach their personal goals – financial and beyond,” said Mike Verotsky, Director of University Development for PSECU. “We encourage everyone – students, faculty, and staff – to come to the Back to Bloom Bash!”

Following the remodel of the PSECU FEC at Kutztown University last October, completion of the Bloomsburg University project marks the second of a series of similar projects the credit union plans to coordinate on other college and university campuses across the Commonwealth.
