San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is a proud supporter of the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation and its 2018 5K & Kids Run and Service Awards Luncheon, honoring the men and women of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and AMR’s Rural/Metro who put their lives on the line every day to help protect our community.
“SDCCU is proud to support the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation and to help honor our selfless local heroes. We appreciate the work of firefighters, lifeguards, paramedics and good Samaritans that protect our citizens, property and community,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck Campbell.
The San Diego Fire Rescue 5K & Kids Run will be held on Saturday, October 6 at Spanish Landing Park West in San Diego. This year’s event features a new race course with 5K, 1-Mile and children’s sprint route options, a Fire Safety Expo, a free pancake breakfast and a beer garden for participants ages 21 and older. The fire safety expo is free and open to the public. Spectators can enjoy the pancake breakfast with a suggested $5 donation per person. Net proceeds and 100 percent of direct donations will go directly to the Foundation.
The Service Awards Luncheon, which will also honor ordinary citizens who have done extraordinary things to help others in their time of need, is planned for Friday, October 19 at noon at the Bahia Resort Hotel located at 998 West Mission Bay Drive in San Diego.
The mission of the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation is to provide enhanced equipment, training, technology and community education resources so the world-class first responders of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department are better equipped to protect the citizens, property and environment of San Diego and the surrounding region. The San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation is one of more than 75 non-profit organizations and community events supported annually by SDCCU.
