Inspired by San Angelo’s murals, Texas Trust turns ATM into work of art

Downtown San Angelo’s popular historical murals were the inspiration for the restyling of Texas Trust Credit Union’s ATM at its branch on the West 306 Loop.

Texas Trust commissioned Presley Rumsey, an up-and-coming local artist, to turn the routine concrete housing that surrounds its ATM at West 306 Loop into something special. The mural Ramsey painted not only makes the ATM more visually appealing, but it adds to local efforts to put art in uncommon places.

The mural, which wraps around three sides of the ATM building, highlights San Angelo’s agricultural heritage. Rumsey’s work features longhorn cattle, a landscape scene of bluebonnets and cacti in the shadow of the iconic twin buttes, and sheep, which pays homage to the city’s former status as the wool capital of the world.

This is the latest artistic effort for Rumsey, a senior at Angelo State University. In addition to the Texas Trust mural, she has painted murals for a downtown boutique, a personal training gym, and a coffee shop.

“We are really proud of Presley’s work and how she managed the project,” said Brett Nikolauk, Vice President of West Texas at Texas Trust Credit Union and an ASU Alumni Director. “She is one of many talented students attending Angelo State University that is contributing to the vibrancy of our city.”
