Royal Credit Union Foundation gives $150,000 to Somerset Public Library

The RCU Foundation gifted $150,000 to Somerset Public Library for its remodel and expansion project.

The Somerset Public Library acts as a community center, with nearly 55,000 visits annually. The Library emphasizes youth programming to ensure kids are reading at or above grade level. The remodel and expansion, scheduled to be complete by winter 2019, will include new community and meeting rooms, adult and children’s areas, and storage.

“The Somerset Public Library has seen a 170% increase in visits in the past ten years,” noted Ginny Scheiderer, Library Director. “The RCU Foundation’s generous donation will help the Library meet the growing needs of our community.” The Foundation's recent donation will cover the cost of the new community meeting room.

The RCU Foundation’s core purpose is to create a positive impact in the communities served by Royal Credit Union. The credit union has been part of the Somerset community since 2010.

“The Somerset Public Library makes a positive impact by providing tools for lifelong learning and spaces for community gathering,” said John Sackett, President, RCU Foundation. “We are delighted to support their efforts.” The Foundation focuses on large-scale, capital projects that help build community and create the spaces where people come together.
