LAFCU is hosting an informational seminar about Medicare, Wednesday, Oct. 17, 6-8 p.m., at its West Lansing Branch/headquarters, 106 N. Marketplace Blvd., Lansing. The event is free and open to the public; registration is requested but not required.
“Medicare 101” is for those who are approaching 65 years of age, the age of eligibility for the federal health care insurance program, including those transitioning from employer health insurance coverage.
Leading the seminar is Brian Shepard, financial advisor with Financial Technology Inc., East Lansing.
“There’s so much information people need to know before they are required to sign up for Medicare,” said Kelli Ellsworth Etchison, LAFCU chief marketing officer. “It can be daunting, so LAFCU wanted to help those in our community who can benefit from learning more before they need to make these important decisions.”
The educational seminar will provide information about Medicare options and costs, and when and why people should sign up for the program whether or not they want to begin receiving Medicare benefits. Shepard will also answer general questions from attendees.
Registration is via email, seminars@lafcu.com, or online from the “Events & Seminars” page of www.lafcu.com.
This is a Medicare educational event. No plan-specific details will be discussed.
