Christian Community Credit Union donates $10,000 for hurricane disaster relief efforts

In response to the devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Florence, Christian Community Credit Union donated $5,000 towards disaster relief efforts in partnership with American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA). The Credit Union also donated $5,000 to American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) for their “Rebuilding, Restoring, Renewing Puerto Rico” initiative. This is an ongoing recovery effort for communities greatly affected by Hurricane Maria. Both donations were directed to the Christian relief organization One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS).

The funds for the donation come from the Credit Union’s “Cards that Give to Missions” program, in which a portion of the Credit Union’s interchange income (fees merchants pay to card issuers) is donated when cardholders use their Credit Union-issued credit cards for purchases.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people and communities devastated by Hurricane Florence and those who continue to be affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Maria,” said David Estridge, Christian Community Credit Union Executive Vice President. “We’re proud to partner with ABCUSA and ABHMS as they work with local organizations to bring help and hope to those affected by these hurricanes.”
