PSECU Director of Public Relations Margaret Delmonico honored with Women Making a Difference Award

Recently, PSECU Director of Public Relations Margaret Delmonico was named a 2018 Women Making a Difference by Pennsylvania Business Central’s Women in Business Publication. Nominated by readers and selected by a panel of business professionals from St. Francis University, Delmonico was one of just 41 women from the publication’s 23-county coverage area to be selected for the award this year.

“It’s such an honor to be nominated for the Women Making a Difference Award, and even more so to be chosen by the panel as a winner,” Delmonico said. “Through my work and personal activities, I strive to always be helpful to others. I see this award as a positive confirmation that I am doing my part to support the needs of the community. I thank Pennsylvania Business Central for making it possible.”

Now in its eighth year, the Women Making a Difference awards have “proudly shined a spotlight on women whose tireless work provides the bedrock of a strong community,” according to the Pennsylvania Business Central website.

As Director of Public Relations for the state’s largest credit union, Delmonico oversees PSECU’s community involvement and outreach, including its corporate communications, financial education programming, and corporate social responsibility efforts. She is also a trusted guardian of relationships with key individuals, groups, and organizations.

“Margaret’s service to PSECU over the years has been invaluable,” said PSECU President Greg Smith. “She is truly a Woman Making a Difference in the lives of many and is very deserving of that title. We thank her for all she does on behalf of our more than 450,000 members and the greater Central Pennsylvania community.”

During her nearly 40-year tenure with PSECU, Delmonico has contributed to various areas of PSECU operations, including Member Services, Loans, and Marketing. Of note was her work to garner membership from students and alumni of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education as well as employees of local government and Pennsylvania school districts when the Department of Banking approved these groups for credit union membership in the late-1980s. She is also credited with starting PSECU’s financial education and scholarship programs. These endeavors were instrumental in assuring PSECU’s long-term growth and stability.

Both through her position with PSECU and in her free time, Delmonico is active in the community. She currently serves as Board Chair of Leadership Harrisburg Area and as a board member for the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association Foundation and the Harrisburg Rotary Foundation. Past leadership involvement includes membership on the board of directors for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the Art Association of Harrisburg.

As a result of her expertise, dedication, and skill, Delmonico has received a wide range of awards and recognitions. Accolades include YWCA of Greater Harrisburg’s Woman of Excellence Award, Financial Marketing Association’s Golden Mirror Award, and Eye Candy’s The Conference for Women’s Lifetime Achievement Award, among others.

Delmonico earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Speech Communications from DeSales University (formerly Allentown College of Saint Francis DeSales) and holds a Master of Science in Communication/Journalism from Shippensburg University.
