Jose Alvarez, Sonoma branch manager at Redwood Credit Union (RCU), was honored with a Latino Business Leadership Award by the North Bay Business Journal at an event at the Hyatt Vineyard Creek in Santa Rosa on October 30.
Presented to 13 honorees, the North Bay Business Journal’s Latino Business Leadership Awards recognize outstanding Latino leaders in the North Bay Area. Jose Alvarez was recognized for helping the community—especially members of the Hispanic community—thrive by offering financial literacy workshops that help people understand their savings and credit options and gain confidence in using them.
“It’s an honor to be recognized among so many inspiring Latino business leaders, all of whom have contributed to our community,” said Alvarez.
Alvarez, who joined Redwood Credit Union in 2013 to manage its Sonoma branch, oversees service, staff management and training, and all daily branch operations, as well as business development, community relations and local volunteer efforts. Those efforts include work with La Luz Center, El Verano Resource Center, AVANCE, Sonoma Valley Community Health Center, Sonoma Valley Charter School, and Sonoma Valley High School.
