Sikorsky Credit Union and the Stratford Rotary team up to protect information for a good cause

Sikorsky Credit Union recently joined forces with the Stratford Rotary and Santa Energy in hosting a Shred It and Recycling Day event. This event took place at the Baldwin Center in Stratford on Saturday, October 27, and gave local residents an opportunity to protect their personal information by having paperwork properly destroyed. In addition to paper shredding, used electronics were collected for disposal and recycling.

A donation was requested of participants, with proceeds going toward the purchase of school supplies for needy Stratford elementary school students.  The turnout was still solid on this day despite heavy rain and gusty wind that canceled most outdoor activities on that day.

“The Stratford Rotary Club is very appreciative of those who came out for this event despite the weather.  Your participation helps us support students in your community,” said John Corb, a Stratford Rotarian who helped facilitate the event.  Sikorsky Credit Union employee Patty Schulte added “This event always gets a strong turnout—the need to dispose confidential information is strong, as is our desire to help kids here in Stratford.  I was very happy to see many people come out despite the weather.”
