Canvas Credit Union, the Official Credit Union of the Rocky Mountain Showdown, hosted an on-field kicking contest this year, offering two students a chance to win $10,000!
Two contestants, Henley H. from CSU and Jon R. from CU, both attempted to split the uprights from the 30 yard line during the Rocky Mountain Showdown for a chance to win $10,000. While neither contender won the jackpot, both local Colorado students received $500 for braving the kick amidst thousands of screaming fans under the Mile High lights during Canvas’ “Going for the Goal” kicking contest.
“We’re proud to be the Official Credit Union of the Showdown and help a couple of deserving local students, and coincidentally Canvas members, kick off their school year with some extra cash during this exhilarating annual event,” said Todd Marksberry, Canvas President & CEO.
This is the final year the annual battle between Colorado football rivals will take place at Broncos Stadium at Mile High. The Showdown will be moving to CSU’s Canvas Stadium next year, and future games will be at either CSU or CU. With rain delays, it was well past midnight before CU sealed the victory, winning 52-31 in a game that drew almost 70,000 fans.
In addition to sponsoring the Showdown, Canvas also fueled some college spirit with a #CanvasColorado Photo Contest for CSU and CU students to win free tickets to the game.
