Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) is pleased to announce that the popular Classroom Cash Grants program is now accepting grant proposals. Through the program, MSGCU has funded hundreds of important learning experiences in classrooms across Metro Detroit.
MSGCU invites teachers to submit grant proposals for up to $750 through October 4. In total, the 2019 Classroom Cash Grants program will award $45,000 in grants to teachers that live in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Teachers can use a grant to make an innovative classroom project idea a reality.
During the voting period from October 15-25, students, parents, colleagues, and members of the school and local community can show their support by voting for their favorite projects through the online voting process on www.classroomcash.org. The projects receiving the most votes receive the grants.
The MSGCU Classroom Cash Grants program is open to all teachers that reside or work in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Teachers can be educators serving in public, private, parochial or charter schools. Previous Classroom Cash winners and entrants may also reapply.
“Teachers have a profound impact on the lives of students and the community in which we live,” Peter Gates, MSGCU President/CEO, said. “As a Credit Union founded by teachers, we are excited to be able to provide funding for materials, equipment and other resources necessary to carry out educational projects that would otherwise not be covered by a school’s budget. With Classroom Cash Grants, we can help make these essential projects a reality for teachers and their students.”
The MSGCU Classroom Cash Grants program was launched in 2005. To date, more than 850 educators have been awarded more than $435,000 in grants.
Recipients must either be a member of MSGCU or become a member of MSGCU before receipt of the award. Teachers can also take advantage of other MSGCU programs that include loans designed for classroom purchases, a variety of scholarships, and in-classroom financial literacy programs designed to meet curriculum needs.
