NWCUA brings 2019 MAXX Convention to Spokane

The power of the credit union story, the Credit Union Pitch Contest, the Masquerade Credit Unions for Kids Auction, and keynote discussions on diversity, equity, and inclusion headline MAXX 2019.

You might say Spokane is a “credit union town.” More than half a million consumers hold memberships in one of the 14 credit unions headquartered in Spokane County, and those credit unions protect nearly $8 billion in assets. It’s only fitting, then, that the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) brings its annual MAXX Convention to the Lilac City Oct. 15-17.

“MAXX 2019 programming is future-focused and dives into the most relevant issues credit unions are facing today, including advocacy, future technology opportunities, credit union growth and relevance, and community impact,” said Troy Stang, NWCUA President and CEO.

More than 400 leaders of Northwest credit unions, and 120 NWCUA business partners are bringing their solutions for credit unions to MAXX. The sold-out Strategic Link Trade Show will feature emerging technology and industry expertise under one roof. And new this year, the convention will feature the Credit Union Pitch Contest – the Credit Union Movement’s version of “Shark Tank,” where businesses will give timed pitches to a panel of judges. The contest takes place during the Welcome Reception at 5:15 p.m. Oct. 15.

The MAXX Convention will host the NWCUA’s annual dinner and auction benefitting Credit Unions for Kids on the evening of Oct. 16. This year’s theme is Masquerade. The 2018 auction raised more than $630,000 for the eight Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the Northwest. Keynotes from the MAXX mainstage will focus on:

  • The power of the credit union story. Expert speakers will shine light on how sharing credit unions’ impact helps Movement-wide to raise awareness and advance the advocacy policy agenda.
  • National and regional economic updates.
  • Innovation in the ever-changing world of technology.
  • Removing barriers to empower diversity, equity, and inclusion in credit unions.
  • Transforming workplace culture.

MAXX 2019 will conclude Oct. 17 with the annual Summit Awards Dinner, presenting six marquis awards to credit union teams and individuals who have taken credit union service and impact to the industry’s highest levels. Trade media coverage is welcomed. Please contact Lynn Heider for credentials.
