It was a day of laughter, a day of giving back and a day of hope as Vizo Financial held their first-ever Day of Service on Monday, October 14, 2019. During the Day of Service, many of Vizo Financial’s employees volunteered their time at handpicked charities and organizations throughout Central Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, Pa., Greensboro, N.C., and Columbia, S.C.
In all, 129 Vizo Financial staff and family members participated in this special day. They spent the morning helping with mailings, landscaping, event setup, wreath making, inventory organization, building, painting and various other efforts in service to the following organizations:
- American Cancer Society (Harrisburg, Pa.)
- BackPack Beginnings (Greensboro, N.C.)
- Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Penn State Children’s Hospital (Hershey, Pa.)
- Harvest Hope Food Bank (Columbia, S.C.)
- Hospice of Central Pennsylvania (Harrisburg, Pa.)
- Milagro House (Lancaster, Pa.)
- Pet Match Rescue PA (Pittsburgh, Pa.)
- Prisma Health Children’s Hospital (Columbia, S.C.)
- ROAR Outdoors (Greer, S.C.)
“We are so pleased and appreciative at how many of our staff were able to join together as difference makers, willing to volunteer their time to make a positive impact in our local communities and exemplify the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people,’” said Jay Murray, Vizo Financial’s chief executive officer.
“There are no words to express the amazing feeling you get when you see first-hand how your work helps these organizations fulfill their mission to help those in need,” said David Brehmer, president of Vizo Financial. “Our Day of Service was an eye-opening experience that proved that credit unions are so much more than just financial institutions – that even by doing something small, we can create a ripple effect that gives hope, strength and kindness to people far beyond our membership.”
