VyStar named one of Computerworld’s Best Places to Work in IT for 2020

VyStar Credit Union announced today they were named to the Insider Pro and Computerworld 2020 Best Places to Work in IT, an annual feature that since 1994 has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals. VyStar ranked No. 13 among mid-sized organizations.

The list was based on responses to a comprehensive questionnaire that included categories such as employee benefits, career development, training and retention. Interviews with IT professionals also factored into the rankings. “On behalf of the VyStar team, it's an honor to be recognized as one of the best places to work in IT,” said Akin Agar, VyStar’s Chief Information Officer. “VyStar’s IT employees proudly serve our more than 700,000 members through the most innovative technology, which has a significant impact on our credit union’s future in automation and digital transformation.”

VyStar employees work with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, data analytics and cloud technology. The organization’s newly renovated IT workspaces include an Innovation Lab, Agile Space and areas designed to foster collaboration and innovation.

“Companies that have earned a spot on the Insider Pro and Computerworld 2020 Best Place to Work in IT list share a common denominator: They create an environment that not only rewards workers with competitive compensation and benefits, but they also foster a spirit of diversity, social responsibility, training and innovation,” said Mark Lewis, Vice President of Audience Development at Insider Pro.

A good example of what makes VyStar’s IT department such an integral part of its workforce was its rapid response to the coronavirus pandemic. The hard work and creativity of the team enabled a majority of VyStar employees to work remotely and follow social distancing guidelines while still providing high-quality products and services.

“Using agile techniques, the team developed and deployed the infrastructure and software solutions needed to enable programs for our members, such as the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program, City of Jacksonville loans, automation of stimulus payments and expansion of digital capabilities,” Agar said.

VyStar offers a team atmosphere where diversity is valued and growth is encouraged. IT team members enjoy the ability to participate in challenges to augment their skillsets. They also have access to online classes where they can earn certifications and learn more about technology.
