MSUFCU provides $2,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors

Four 2020 Clarkston High School and Brandon High School graduating seniors received scholarships from MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) for their college educations. Clarkston graduates Nathan Abolish, Timothy O’Donnell, and Jordan Mountain; and Brandon graduate Alexia Weberian each received a $500 scholarship.

“We are grateful for this opportunity to assist high school seniors to pursue post-secondary education in our communities,” said Whitney Anderson Harrell, MSUFCU Chief Community Development Officer. “This is our fifth year of offering scholarships to graduating seniors from these high schools, and we look forward to helping more students achieve their dreams.”

Several students submitted their applications through the Credit Union website or through their school counselors. Recipients were selected by a scholarship committee, which included Credit Union employees. To qualify for the scholarship, students had to meet the following requirements:

  • Be accepted and committed to attending MSU or Oakland University
  • Submit an essay describing what financial education has done for them
  • Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Be a member of MSUFCU or Oakland University Credit Union
