Giving a critically ill child hope, optimism, and joy in place of uncertainty, fear, and sadness is exactly what Make-A-Wish does every time a wish is granted. Commonwealth Credit Union is proud to announce its partnership with Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana and do their part to better the lives of these children and their families.
Last month, Commonwealth Credit Union served as the presenting sponsor of this year’s Make-A-Wish Hope is Essential Virtual Gala. They will also be shining as a Star of Hope Sponsor for the Walk for Wishes. This event not only celebrates the children whose wishes have already been granted, but it also serves as a fundraiser to fulfill even more.
Commonwealth Credit Union President/CEO, Karen Harbin stated, “Our partnership with Make-A-Wish works so well because our values closely align. Credit Unions are built on the principle of ‘People Helping People.’ Likewise, Make-A-Wish empowers children, regardless of their diagnosis, to reach for the stars and achieve their dreams. My team and I have the absolute honor of serving as a Wish Hero, doing our part to see every wish fulfilled.”
Just as a wish forever transforms the life of the child and their family, it also touches the community. Building upon this transformation, Commonwealth Credit Union has plans to begin working on a wonderful community involvement project at their Hamburg Branch in Lexington, Kentucky. An announcement and unveiling of this very special project will be held in the coming months.
“Community partners are vital in helping Make-A-Wish fulfill our mission of granting the wish of every eligible child,” added Faith Hacker, Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana Senior Development Officer. “Our relationship with Commonwealth Credit Union is especially meaningful because we are united in our passion to inspire hope in the lives of these special young children. At Make-A-Wish, we believe that when a wish is granted, it creates hope and strength not only for the wish child but also for the wish family and the community as a whole.”
