New Horizons Credit Union presents St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with $500 check from fundraising efforts during the pandemic

Giving back to the community is important for New Horizons Credit Union in Mobile, AL. New Horizons’ employees presented a check for $500.00to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital representing fundraising efforts during the pandemic.

Each year, New Horizons Credit Union employees vote on which charities they would like to support as part of the team’s Horizons Helping Hands community outreach program. The fundraising primarily stems from special jeans days to other internal activities conducted to help generate the fund-raising spirit throughout the Credit Union.

St. Jude was selected due to its difference from most children’s hospitals. Founder and entertainer Danny Thomas opened the doors to St. Jude in 1962 with the dream that “no child should die in the dawn of life."  Unlike most hospitals, much of the funding comes from individual contributions. Thanks to generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude.

“New Horizons Credit Union staff made this donation happen. I am so proud to be part of such a giving organization that continues to support the community even through these pandemic times,” said New Horizons Credit Union President/CEO, Edith Franklin.

“We are very grateful for the generosity of New Horizons Credit Union’s staff,” commented Aline Dykes - grandmother of a St. Jude patient who represented St. Jude at the check presentation. “This donation will be greatly appreciated by St. Jude as they continue to help children.”
