Vocality Community Credit Union recently hired Valerie Johnston to serve as Vice President of Finance and Ana Cortes as the new Marketing Director.
Johnston comes to the Northern California credit union with more than 21 years of credit union experience, including serving as CEO of EW401 Credit Union and Churchill County Federal Credit Union in Nevada as well as working at One Nevada Credit Union. Prior to joining Vocality, Cortes worked as an assistant marketing director for a local area casino. She has degrees in international business and communications.
“Valerie adds a breadth of knowledge and positive, hands-on attitude to the senior management unit as we extend our service area outreach plan,” said Vocality Community CU CEO Pat Neighbors. “We’re thrilled to have her join the Vocality team and our efforts to serve our membership!”
Johnston is well-known for her active community engagement and service organization support. She is a 2008 Western CUNA Management graduate; holds various certifications, including HR management; and holds an NCRM designation for risk management. She is an avid advocate for credit unions, having served terms on the Shapiro Advisory Council for the California Credit Union League, the trade association for credit unions in the state, as well as president for several years of the Northern Nevada Chapter of the Nevada Credit Union League (the trade association for credit unions in the state).
Along with local community expertise, Cortes’ previous work experience provides an exciting and fun foundation for the planned promotions and events that will continue the credit union’s focus on supporting members and the community, according to Neighbors.
“Ana brings a fresh angle to the credit union and has an eye for imagery and messaging that really helps show our organization’s heart and commitment to our communities,” Neighbors said. “She really gets us and our mission—and we’re excited to have her join the team in service to our membership.”
