San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest credit unions, has announced that Ashlee Micale, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, has been named CFO of the Year in the business non-profit category by the San Diego Business Journal, a San Diego-based weekly business newspaper.
The CFO of the Year awards program, in its 14th year, recognizes CFOs and financial managers from across San Diego’s businesses for their contributions to company growth, leadership and community involvement. A panel of judges selects CFOs of the Year in multiple categories, including: business non-profit, public company, privately held company, non-profit organization, government agency and education, along with overall CFO of the Year. Due to COVID-19, this year’s awards ceremony was canceled, but winners were announced in SDBJ’s Special Report on August 17.
Micale was selected for her role in the success of SDCCU, including her oversight in business intelligence, preparation for growth and profitability and earnings. Micale, who joined SDCCU in 2012, provides strategic direction in the overall financial management of SDCCU. Micale has direct responsibility for accounting, finance, business intelligence, forecasting, strategic planning and treasury functions.

Micale is involved in the credit union industry as a member of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) CFO Council and has spoken at CFO Council national conferences. She currently serves on the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Finance Council Executive Committee as Chairperson, Council Nominating Committee, Council Sponsorship Committee and the Councils Executive Committee. In 2017, NCUA asked Micale to serve on the CECL Advisory Council where she is one of five CFOs who examine and submit recommendations for CECL compliance.
Prior to joining SDCCU, Micale served as CFO at Denver-based Public Service Credit Union since 2005. She also worked at Colorado United Credit Union in Denver. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in accounting, and a master’s degree in business administration, both from the University of Colorado.
