Despite several attempts to reschedule, the annual major fundraiser for The Penelope House – the Mobile Chocolate Festival cancelled due to COVID concerns, and New Horizons Credit Union donated their sponsor dollars to support the organization.
Amid the COVID-19 crisis, New Horizons Credit Union in Mobile, AL understands the importance of supporting the community. New Horizonsdonated their event sponsorship of $1,00.00 to The Penelope House which comprised of funds made possible by Credit Union employee fundraising efforts through the Horizons Helping Hands program.
New Horizons Credit Union staff raised funds through special jean days fundraising that support Horizons Helping Hands’ designated local charities. Penelope House was chosen based on results of an annual internal survey whereby the Credit Union’sstaff selects the charities they want the Credit Union to support. For 2020, Penelope House was selected as one of the Corporate Charities.
The prevention of domestic violence through education and public awareness is the goal of Penelope House. The Penelope House provides safety, protection, and support to the victims of Domestic Violence and their children.“New Horizons Credit Union is a great supporter, and we are truly grateful,” commented Tonie Ann Coumanis Torrans, Penelope House official. “The funds will help us continue to provide the resources needed by those we help every day.”
