On Friday, October 16, Marine FCU held its 26th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit Hope for the Warriors, the USO of Jacksonville, and United Way of Onslow County. Each organization received a check for $20,500.
“We have been humbled to have such amazing support from our sponsors and golfers throughout the years. Over $1.7 million dollars has been raised for these organizations to date,” stated Chuck Collins, Chairman of the Board, Marine FCU.
“The work that Hope for the Warriors provides on a daily basis for those who have been injured fighting for our freedoms is second-to-none,” said Jeff Clark, President/CEO, Marine FCU. “They reach out to support the families of those injured to help them cope with the issues at hand. Then we have the USO in Jacksonville … the oldest continually operational USO in the world. What they offer to our local military members is a taste of home, just when they need it most.”
“And finally, our local United Way understands the special uniqueness of being in a military town, and focuses their efforts to meet those unique needs,” said Clark.
Since its inception in 1994, the funds raised from Marine FCU’s golf tournament have been used for the sole purpose of assuring that our military, and our communities serving them, get the support they need to achieve their goals of readiness.
Collins indicated that, “We are particularly enthused with this year's recipients. All three have been a strong community fixture of support for our Marines, their families, and our entire membership.”
