Financial Plus Credit Union raised $4,780 and 1,751 pounds of food for two charities

FLINT, MI (January 6, 2022) |

Financial Plus Credit Union and the Swartz Creek Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their 17th Annual Whatchamacallit networking event on December 3rd at the Financial Plus Credit Union’s Main  office. This festive event attracted attendees from across the community, with the primary goal of  impacting lives through raising money to benefit the Old Newsboys of Flint and Food Bank of Eastern  Michigan.

“This year we helped raise $4,780 for the Old Newsboys of Flint and collected 1,751 pounds of food for  the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. The donations will generate 4,459 meals for those in need. We want to thank everyone for coming out to support the event and for the great partnership we have with our  co-host, the Swartz Creek Area Chamber of Commerce,” remarked Kristen Brisbin of Financial Plus Credit  Union.

The Whatchamacallit networking event was filled with smiles, festive music, and a breakfast buffet  provided by Financial Plus Business Partners including: Tropical Smoothie, Coffee Beanery, Comfort  Keepers, Edible Arrangements, Donna’s Donuts, and catering from Leo’s Coney Island. Local radio stations  including: 102.5 WIOG, Cars 108, 103.9 The Fox, and Banana 101.5 broadcasted live throughout the  morning.

“Each year, we look forward to hosting this event with Financial Plus Credit Union. The total donations  figure comes from a variety of sources. Whatchamacallit itself raised $2,280, Tropical Smoothie Cafe  donated $500 in checks, and Community Referral Network donated $2,000. Whatchamacallit really brings  our guests together and kicks off the holiday season,” remarked David Mayers, President of the Swartz  Creek Area Chamber of Commerce.

Financial Plus staff and members also participated in donating nonperishable food items throughout  November and December, and partook in the Old Newsboys Paper Sale.

The Old Newsboys of Flint have brightened Christmas mornings for more than 818,000 needy children  across Genesee County, making a difference in improving the lives of kids in our community. The Food

Bank of Eastern Michigan has pursued their mission to eliminate hunger within the community. Through  a network of organizations, more than 331,000 people are served each year.
