Credit Union of Texas to award Allen, Little Elm SMART Branch Seniors with scholarships

Graduating senior student employees will receive up to $2,000, depending on years of service

WHAT:                Credit Union of Texas (CUTX) will recognize its graduating senior SMART Branch student employees from Little Elm High School and Allen High School at an awards ceremony this week. Each senior will receive a $1,000 scholarship for future education-related needs for each year of employment with the SMART Branch for a total of up to $2,000.

The full-service, student-run SMART Branch concept was first launched at Allen High School in January of 2021, followed by the Little Elm High School location in January 2022 with the goal of providing students with the financial resources and education to make sound financial decisions in the future. Named for its focus on Servant leadership, Motivation, Active learning, Reasoning and Technology, each SMART Branch is staffed by 21 junior and senior student employees along with one full-time CUTX employee and is available to all students, faculty and staff during school hours. Students serve in various roles at the Branches, including bank managers, tellers, and marketers and provide the same services as all other CUTX branches, including checking and savings accounts and auto loans.
