HUECU takes 9.5 million steps for BWH’s Stepping Strong

Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU) spent one month stepping for a great cause

More than 50 HUECU employees and members participated in Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Step Up for Stepping Strong Challenge during the month of May. The steps challenge raised money to support trauma patients at The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation. Created after the Boston Marathon bombing, the Center’s mission is to transform care for civilians and military heroes who suffer traumatic injuries.

“We walk every day and it was an honor for me to have my steps count towards supporting this great cause.” said Tom Montilli, CXO, HUECU “It was also fun to see how far my colleagues walked.”

The step challenge exceeded its 500M steps goal and secured a $100,000 donation from CIGNA, in addition to donations from other corporate sponsors, including HUECU.

“The participation and generosity of corporate teams, such as HUECU, makes this event possible annually,” said Joe Marino, Corporate Partnerships, Brigham and Women’s Hospital Development Office.
