Wright-Patt Credit Union celebrates 90 years of helping people

On June 10, 2022, Wright-Patt Credit Union (WPCU) celebrates its 90th anniversary of helping people. The credit union was founded in 1932 when a group of local workers pooled their money together in a shoebox to help one another through financial hardship. Since then, WPCU has grown to become the largest credit union in Ohio, with more than 450,000 members, and one of the most respected credit unions in the country.

“For ninety years, WPCU has demonstrated the power of our credit union to transform lives and elevate people,” said Tim Mislansky, WPCU President and CEO. “We believe in putting people first in everything we do, because when people succeed, our communities thrive.”

“As we mark this special anniversary, we’re thankful for our loyal members and the opportunity to continue growing together,” added Mislansky. “We look forward to even more opportunities to help our members enjoy greater Financial Flexibility and Freedom so they can live the lives they want to live.”

As WPCU celebrates 90 years of helping people, below are some of the meaningful ways the credit union made an impact for its members just last year, in 2021:
• Provided $82 million in direct financial benefits to members through higher savings rates, lower loan rates and lower fees.* On average, these savings amounted to $188 per member — or $395 per member household.
• Returned $10.5 million to members through a Special Patronage Dividend. Since 2008, WPCU has given back $94 million to members.
• Helped more than 5,000 members either buy a new home or save money by refinancing their existing mortgage, including helping more than 700 members buy their first home and achieve the dream of homeownership.
