On Thursday, June 16, 2022, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates) presented its annual LSCU Awards at the 2022 Southeastern Credit Union Conference & Expo in Orlando, Florida. This awards ceremony recognizes credit unions and credit union professionals who have demonstrated exemplary service and accomplished significant achievements in 2021.
The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes credit union volunteers who have selflessly contributed time, effort, and talent to the development of the credit union movement in their state.
The winners of the Volunteer of the Year award are as follows:
- Howard Barnett of Heritage South Credit Union (Alabama)
- Diane Fears of VyStar Credit Union (Florida)
- Joe Ruhland of CORE Credit Union (Georgia)
“These individuals have selflessly served their credit unions and communities through championing countless volunteer initiatives in an effort to really help members afford life and advance local communities,” stated Patrick La Pine, CEO of LSCU & Affiliates. “Mr. Howard Barnett, Ms. Diane Fears, and Dr. Joe Ruhland have led various programs within their credit unions to educate young people about the benefits of financial wellness and to also assist with growth and development opportunities. We are proud to honor these individuals with the Volunteer of the Year award for 2021.”
