The PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes, a national 501(c)3 founded by PenFed Credit Union, raised $50,000 to support Nebraska service members, veterans, military families and caregivers at its 5th annual Greater Omaha Military Heroes Golf Classic at Champions Run on June 27.
“We are proud to support the Nebraska military community and continue our commitment to supporting the service members who courageously serve our country,” said PenFed Credit Union President/CEO and PenFed Foundation CEO James Schenck. “I always look forward to participating in this event that brings the Omaha community together to raise money for Nebraska’s military families.”
Proceeds from previous Greater Omaha Military Heroes Golf Classic events have funded projects such as Victory Vets, a joint effort with Burlington Capital Properties to provide 60 homeless vets a warm, comfortable and fully furnished apartment.
The event drew 118 golfers and was kicked off by a lunch and flag ceremony. All funds raised by this year’s event will go directly to support Greater Omaha’s military heroes through the PenFed Foundation’s Military Heroes Program.
The mission of the PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes is to empower military service members, veterans and their communities with the skills and resources to realize financial stability and opportunity.
