Financial Plus Credit Union is proud to award their 7th annual “You are the Future” Scholarships to Alexander Hect, Allison Hawk, Anika Ghosh, Ella Degraw, and Garrett Wilson. Each recipient received a $1,000 scholarship to use during their 2022-2023 academic school year. This scholarship can be applied towards tuition, fees, books, and room and board.
“We received over 90 applications for this years’ scholarship, all telling unique stories. Our judges were amazed by the community initiatives our applicants have accomplished at such a young age, and we want to thank them for all they do. It’s important to recognize students for their efforts, and we feel that our five winners are great representatives of hard work and dedication,” said Madeline Mason, Public Relations and Social Media Specialist at Financial Plus Credit Union.
Alexander, a strong leader, athlete, and Eagle Scout from Swartz Creek plans to study physical therapy at Saginaw Valley State University. A Davison native with a passion for service, Allison will be attending Indiana Wesleyan University to become a doctor and minor in Spanish. Anika hails from West Bloomfield and is dedicated to helping fight hunger. She will study pre-dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh.
Rochester native Ella has shined academically while balancing multiple extracurriculars. In the fall she will be attending the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor to study bilateral cortical necrosis. From East Jordan, Garrett is deeply involved in his community and was selected as a Youth Conversation Council member with the DNR. He will continue exploring his passion for natural resources management at North Central Michigan College.
Scholarship judges at Financial Plus reviewed all eligible entries and awarded the recipient based on attaining all requirements.
