Anderson University Athletics and Spero Financial invite you to the Pink Walk

The Pink Walk hosted on October 1 is a free community event in support of those impacted by cancer.

Anderson University Athletics and Spero Financial invite you to join them at the Pink Walk. This free community event will take place Saturday, October 1 from 8AM - 11AM and is open to adults and children of all ages. Participants will walk 2.5 miles on Spero Financial Field in support of those impacted by cancer. The AnMed Mammography Mobile will be on-site to provide screenings to participants.

“Most of us have either been personally touched by cancer or know of someone who has, and that commonality ties us together as a community,” said Brian McKay, Spero Financial CEO. “There’s no question that working together with Anderson University and AnMed on this initiative is one of our most powerful efforts because it truly has life-changing impacts. By working together, we are stronger - which is what community is all about.”

All donations from the Pink Walk will benefit Play4Kay, a fundraising initiative that Anderson University Athletics and Women’s Basketball Team participate in annually. Play4Kay is part of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, founded by Coach Kay Yow who was first diagnosed with cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009 after a 22-year battle with the disease. Through Play4Kay, the program reaches across the country, extends hope to survivors, and raises money to aid in the fight against all cancers impacting women.

“What an honor and a privilege it is to partner with Spero Financial and AnMed for such a worthy cause that has impacted so many in our community,” said Dr. Bert Epting, Jr., Vice President for Athletics at Anderson University. “Together, as part of the Trojan family, we will continue to celebrate those who have beat cancer and fight for those who are still battling this disease.”

During the Pink Walk and throughout October, Spero Financial will honor the courageous women and men in the community who’ve walked or are currently walking through cancer.  Visit www.spero.financial/pink-walk to submit a loved one that you would like to honor and to register for the event. The first 250 attendees will receive a free t-shirt!

In the words of Coach Kay Yow, “This is something we can do together.”
