Point Breeze Credit Union held its annual “The Harvest” Golf Tournament to benefit the Maryland Food Bank (MFB) on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Hayfields Country Club in Hunt Valley.
For the last four years, the annual “The Harvest” Golf Tournament has offered an afternoon of premier golf, lively competition, and the opportunity to give back to fellow Marylanders in need. This year’s tournament raised $30,000 to support the Maryland Food Bank’s ongoing hunger-relief efforts across the state.
The Maryland Food Bank has served as a key community resource throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, having distributed enough food to provide more than 100 million meals between March 2020 and June 2022. The food bank supports more than 330 Network Partners statewide that collectively provide nearly 1,300 distribution points with much-needed food for their local communities.
“At Point Breeze, we believe in supporting the communities where we live and work and promoting the wellbeing of others,” said Tonia Niedzialkowski, President and CEO of Point Breeze Credit Union. “We are grateful for the success of our tournament benefiting the Maryland Food Bank. With the higher cost of groceries this year, it was more important than ever to assist our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.”
“Hunger has been a long-standing issue here in Maryland, but it’s especially problematic now, as inflation and rising costs continue to make things difficult for families with limited budgets,” said Carmen Del Guercio, MFB’s President & CEO. “We appreciate Point Breeze Credit Union’s efforts to host “The Harvest” Golf Tournament again this year because it provides a unique opportunity to raise awareness around food insecurity while bolstering the work we do in support of community organizations all over the state. Thank you to all of those responsible for making this year’s event such a great success!”
Thanks to the support of participating golfers and many generous community sponsors over the years, "The Harvest" has helped Point Breeze raise a combined total of $130,000 in donations to the Maryland Food Bank since the tournament’s inaugural year in 2018.
