Bret Johnson has recently been named to the board of directors at Bragg Mutual Federal Credit Union. Johnson currently serves as Chief Financial Officer for Cape Fear Valley Health and has been with the organization since April of 2021.
“Mr. Johnson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to help propel Bragg Mutual forward in 2023 and beyond. His leadership – both as a Bragg Mutual member and as a board member – will prove invaluable to help create the ultimate financial experience for our communities,” said Bragg Mutual President and CEO Steve Foley.

Bret Johnson has more than 32 years of healthcare experience. Prior to Cape Fear Valley Health, he spent 23 years with Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, S.C., where he served as director of finance before becoming senior vice president and CFO in 2005.
Johnson also spent eight years with a multi-national public accounting firm in Charlotte, N.C. working with clients in healthcare, banking and real estate.
Johnson holds a degree in accounting from the University of Iowa. He and his wife have been married for 27 years and have three children, Thomas, Abbey, and Ella.
