Shirley Senn didn’t expect to build a career in the credit union movement—but once she saw its power to transform lives, she never looked back. Now as Chief Community Development and Impact Officer at New Orleans Firemen’s FCU, she leads initiatives that connect her credit union to the communities it serves, with a focus on financial inclusion and impact. But in reality, this passion bleeds into helping any credit union with community development that asks for help. A former CDFI researcher, grant writer, and self-proclaimed ALM enthusiast, Shirley brings both strategic insight and a heart for service to her work. As a CUDE, International CUDE, and DEEU, she’s passionate about helping small credit unions and underserved communities thrive. Outside the office, you’ll find her volunteering with an equine therapy nonprofit, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, and championing grassroots efforts that turn cooperative values into action.
