Prior to co-founding Zealyst, Tracie served as President/CEO of the Montana Credit Union League, where she led statewide efforts in advocacy, compliance, education and training, outreach, public relations, fee-based services, vendor partnerships, and employee benefits. Throughout her career, she has held leadership roles at four credit unions and three state credit union leagues, building a reputation as a strategic thinker, trusted advisor, and collaborative leader.
Before relocating to Montana, Tracie served as Senior Vice President of Dues-Supported Services for the Utah League of Credit Unions. In that role, she helped lead legislative advocacy efforts during the passage of the Credit Union Membership Access Act of 1998 (H.R. 1151) and the state-level banking challenges that followed.
A strong believer in the power of collaboration, Tracie founded two innovative cooperative ventures while serving Montana’s credit unions. In 2003, she helped establish Montana’s Credit Unions for Community Development (MCUCD), a 501(c)(3) organization that delivers financial capability and asset-building programs throughout the state. In 2007, she launched the Montana Credit Union League Group Benefit Trust, a self-funded cooperative that provides health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits to credit union employees.
Tracie’s commitment to the credit union movement extends beyond her professional roles. She has served in numerous volunteer leadership positions, including Chair of the Filene Research Institute, Chair of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues, Treasurer of Western CUNA Management School, and Board Member of the National Credit Union Foundation.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western Oregon State University, a master’s degree in Professional Communication from Westminster College, and a Credit Union Management Certificate from Mt. Hood Community College. She is also a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Certified Professional Coaching Program.
Her professional credentials include:
PCC (Professional Certified Coach), International Coaching Federation
CAE (Certified Association Executive), American Society of Association Executives
CUDE (Credit Union Development Educator), National Credit Union Foundation
UW CPC (University of Wisconsin Certified Professional Coach)
Tracie and her husband, Eddie Black, CEO of Vocal Credit Union, divide their time between Montana and Arizona. They are proud parents of their daughter, Kylie Bea, who continues the family tradition of service through her own career in the credit union movement.
“At her core, Tracie is a connector, coach, and catalyst who believes that when organizations get the people side of leadership right, extraordinary things become possible.”
