Troy Stang serves as President and CEO of GoWest Credit Union Association, the trade association representing more than 300 credit unions in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming, and the 16.5 million consumers in the region who’ve chosen credit unions as their preferred financial services partners. The region’s not-for-profit cooperative credit unions take a bold, innovative, and forward-thinking approach to improving the lives of their members and strengthening their communities.

Stang has led regional credit union trade associations since 2008. He served in President George W. Bush’s administration as senior staff to the US Treasury Secretary. He has extensive hands-on financial institution experience in large and complex credit unions across the nation. Stang is deeply committed to the credit union system, as a member of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues and the Board of Directors of the Credit Union House and is a former Chair of the Credit Union National Association’s Board of Directors. He earned Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) distinction from the National Credit Union Foundation.
Stang is passionate about building awareness of credit unions, the value that their not-for-profit, cooperative structure drives for their memberships, and the impact they make strengthening communities.
He holds a master’s degree from the College of St. Scholastica in St. Paul, Minnesota, a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University in St. Paul, and an associate of applied science degree from St. Cloud Technical College in St. Cloud Minnesota.
