DCUC’s annual fundraiser for the George E. Myers (GEM) Scholarship is officially underway with the launch of the 2025 Official White House Ornament sales. Each ornament purchased through DCUC’s site directly supports the GEM Scholarship Fund.
Since 1997, DCUC has proudly awarded 77 scholarships totaling more than $229,000, ensuring that credit union professionals and volunteers can access vital educational opportunities at little to no cost.
Note: 2026 GEM Scholarship Applications open mid-October 2025.
Honoring a Legacy, Building the Future
In 1996, DCUC unveiled the George E. Myers Scholarship Award to honor COL George E. Myers, USA (Ret.), DCUC’s Executive Secretary for over a decade, a DCUC Hall of Honor Inductee, and DCUC President/CEO.
The first George E. Myers Scholarship was awarded in February 1998 to Susan Loney, Overseas Operations at Andrews Federal Credit Union, supporting her attendance at the CUNA Consumer Lending Management School.
Moving the Credit Union Mission Forward
“The George E. Myers Scholarship is a powerful investment in the dedicated professionals and volunteers who move the credit union mission forward,” says Anthony Hernandez, DCUC President/CEO. “We are proud to support their growth and look forward to another successful fundraiser that strengthens credit unions’ community impact.”
Ornament sales run from August through December—but supplies are limited.
