Nussle meets with NCUA board members, outlines advocacy priorities

America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Jim Nussle and several members of the association’s Advocacy Team met Tuesday with NCUA Vice Chairman Kyle Hauptman and Board Member Tanya Otsuka to advocate for America’s Credit Unions’ policy priorities.

“Thank you to NCUA Vice Chairman Hauptman and Board Member Otsuka for taking the time to meet with America’s Credit Unions to advance priorities that will ultimately benefit credit union members and communities,” said Nussle. “Advocacy is job number one at America’s Credit Unions, which includes a productive and collaborative relationship with the NCUA to create an environment where credit unions thrive.”

Nussle provided an overview on policy priorities for 2024, which include protecting, empowering, and advancing the needs of credit unions and their members nationwide. Additionally, the group discussed digital asset, field of membership improvements and opportunities to help smaller credit unions grow. America’s Credit Unions sent a letter to Congress and regulatory agency leaders earlier this year outlining these priorities.

In addition, Nussle discussed a recent joint letter with the National Association of Credit Union Service Organizations (NACUSO) asking the agency to amend its regulations to provide additional flexibility to engage with and invest in innovative technology solutions and fintech companies.
